I'm not sure that this was really a restful day but tomorrow will be busy.
Today we visited with D-I-L's parents. We really enjoyed getting together again but it's very sad to see Mandy's mother. How cold that sounds, I'll have to call them Bev and Lloyd. Bev has had a couple of strokes, the most recent in February, has left her with a paralysed arm. I'm so glad she has her speech, but her recovery is hampered by some kind disease which causes muscle weakness. Bev kept herself reasonably fit and active but now is limited to getting around the house with a walking frame and needing help with many things.
We left mid afternoon and bought a few groceries, things that we missed and were not in the pantry here. We had just begun to unwind with cups of coffee when our son came home. I made a dinner because Mandy is sleeping over with the children she nannies for the next few nights. Then the men went out to a Car Club meeting, the Vintage Commercial Group, I think. I settled in for an evening of peace watching some favourite TV with no interruptions. Mandy phoned and we chatted for a couple of hours and now the men are back.
Tomorrow there is a training day here for fitting children's car seats. Wayne and Mandy have a business called Baby On The Move which is centred around hiring quality car seats and other baby equipment. That means I have to be presentable, do my bit to tidy the house and hospitality. It will be busy with women and children most of the day. I might escape for a photo walk.
I am not used to so much socialising. It's exhausting. I'm not complaining but for months and months I've mostly kept to myself in our semi isolated village, now I am in New Zealand's 2nd or 3rd city living with energiser bunnies. Did I say it is exhausting?
Time for bed and I'll be back tomorrow, hopefully with photos.
I forgot to write that after a cool early morning the day was quite warm. Lovely sunny day but cold wind. I started off putting on thermal underwear and several layers of clothes. I spent the rest of the day unlayering. I don't have real cold weather clothing and am grateful the house has a lovely wood burning fire.
